You my followers know I like to do a look back before I move forward. So here’s a look at the month since I returned from Laos.
It’s been chock full: the TV segment, talking to nursing students at Yale, selecting two board members, and meetings with experts on everything from social media to fundraising.
Lovely, motivated women from around the world have offered their support: two expats, a designer and a midwife, living in Laos, a Laotion mama the US, an American woman in Paris, the wonderful women at World Moms Blog who let me guest post. The list goes on. Many local friends have been amazing as well: offering to hold fundraisers, hook me up with generous donors, improve my site. My high school intern and her peers raised a total of $850. I “sold” about 25 Holiday cards, which were a very late addition to CleanBirth.org’s repertoire
An Amazing month.
And plans for 2013 are taking shape. Namely, a campaign January-Feb to raise another $3,500 so that I can reach $5000 and send 1,000 birth kits to Laos on March 1.
I need volunteers to help me make this goal a reality. So, blogging mamas can you help me out? Once I get my campaign up and running will you spread the word to your followers? A little goes a long way: each $5 donation your readers contribute give a mother supplies and education to make birth safe.
I am also planning to expand the offerings of Birth Kits for Baby Showers and am meeting with a local baby boutique owner the first week of January to feel her out about products that will sell. If anyone wants to get involved with this side of the project, I would love to have you!
Thanks!
