New Business Sponsors and Websites Spread the Word
Since we began fundraising one year ago, we have been so very lucky to the have the generous support of our friends and family, and their friends and family.
Crowdfunding expanded our reach to donors who would never otherwise have hear of us. Our fundraiser in New Haven, and the press that came with it, opened even more hearts and wallets.
To date, our individual donors number well over 300 and for that we are so grateful.
As the work in Laos progresses and our local partner and nurses take ownership of the project, we must do an even better job of letting people know how they can help.
We are thrilled to report that in the past 2 weeks, we have teamed up with 4 websites/businesses that will help us just that!
We are so excited that UCHI, which offers LuvDub Kangaroo Care Wrap (patent pending), stylish nursing covers and baby carriers, will be donating a percentage of proceeds to CleanBirth.org. The products are nurturing and wonderful – we are proud to have such an amazing Business Sponsor.
We have also been named YourDoulaBag‘s next Charity of the Quarter. For every packed bag that is sold $3 will go to the charity of the quarter. For every 2 bags sold, we can pay for safe birthing supplies for one mom and one baby!!
Additionally, CleanBirth.org’s Baby Shower Hostess Cards and Baby Shower Favors are profiled on Beautiful Baby Shower Ideas. Here’s hoping the interest in the cards we’ve seen Pinterest turns into a trend!
And, this month, CleanBirth.org appears on the awesome, informative and fun website: Kids Yoga Stories, as part of an article I wrote about teaching yoga to kids in Nicaragua.
Thanks to all of these businesses who are promoting our non-profit work to protect women and children in Laos. We are very glad to have you join our mission!
CleanBirth.org Selected for Global Health & Innovation Conference at Yale
Woo-hoo!
“We have selected your social enterprise pitch for presentation at the Unite For Sight 11th annual Global Health & Innovation Conference at Yale University on April 12-13, 2014. We receive many excellent submissions, and the selection process is competitive.”
This will be a great chance to network with people in the know about global health!
Lao Staff Send More Data and Pictures
Yeah! Pictures from the villages where our kits are being distributed. And data too!
Three staffers of our Lao partner organization, Our Village Association, are tasked with assisting in the distribution of kits, tracking of data, and training of CleanBirth Volunteers.
Ms. Noi coordinates all of our efforts and communicates with CleanBirth.org directly. Mr Phomma works with nurses and villagers in Saravan District and Lao-ngarm District; Mr Haleuy does the same in Tahoy District.
Mr. Haleuy took these great pictures of life in this village.
The nurses in each of our 14 clinics are tasked with texting the number of Clean Birth Kits they have distributed each month.
Ms. Noi has reported that so far in September we have heard from 7 clinics about the number of kits that they distributed in August.
– Naborn Clinic: gave 21
– Kokbok Clinic: gave 16
– Tahouak Clinic: gave 6
– Kuaset Clinic: gave 7
– Pachoudorn Clinic: gave 2
– Daxia Clinic: gave 7
– Thoumleethong Clinic: gave 1
Ms. Noi will be calling the other 7 nurses to get their data.
Last month 4 clinics were cut off communication-wise by rain, but all nurses will need to show their data in December to recieve more kits and their stipend.
Thanks to the 3 OVA staffers we can see that data is being collected and the kits are being used!
Clean Birth Kits Update: Texts from Nurses Coming In
Happy to report the texts from the nurses in their remote clinics keep rolling in.
We have now heard from 7 of 15 clinics about the # of kits distributed in July: 82 all together.
1 Naborn clinic: gave 21
2 Kokbok clinic: gave 7
3 Kaza clinic: gave 15
4 Beungxai clinic: gave 6
5 Phatang clinic: gave 15
6 Toumlee-thong clinic: gave 6
7 Pachoudorn clinic: gave 5
If we double this number, assuming the other 1/2 of clinics are using as many, we will have distributed 160 or so kits in July. Therefore, over six months, the clinics should use nearly all of the 1,000 kits currently available to them in Laos. The half-year Clean Birth Kits re-stock is scheduled for December 20 in Salavan, Laos — perfect timing.
